Bali real estate Investor tipsThe director of the Bali Provincial Tourism Board, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, told reporters that between January 1, 2024 and December 29, 2024, Bali had recorded 6.3 million international arrivals. Although the official figures for December 30 and 31 have not been included in the final figures, it is clear that Bali has achieved its tourism targets for 2024, where conservative forecasts predicted 5.5 million international arrivals,.
Pemayun also told reporters that it was equally important to ensure quality tourism, i.e. that visitors stay longer, spend more and respect local culture and society. The main aim of Bali’s tourism sector is thus to promote sustainable tourism.
Today, Bali is increasingly popular with foreigners. The average length of stay for foreign tourists in Bali is increasing, with data from November 2024 showing that the average length of stay for foreign guests in a star hotel was 3.01 nights, up from 2.99 nights in October 2024. The room occupancy rate in star hotels was 59.69% in November 2024. For villas, the annual occupancy rate is estimated at 65% over 2024.
Wirawan explained that “Australia remains Bali’s main tourist market, while the Chinese market has recovered considerably after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic”. In November 2024 alone, foreign tourist visits to Bali reached 72,900, with Australian tourists contributing 24% of all international arrivals, or 118,182 visits. India followed with 9.76%, 46,150 visits, and China 5.75%, 27,183 visits.
In 2025, Mr. Wirawan explained that Bali must continue to diversify its travelers and the nationalities of its tourists. In addition to maintaining the Australian market and maximizing the potential of China, the government and tourism stakeholders need to step up promotion in other countries such as South Korea and India.
Domestic travel also played an important role for Bali in 2025, with 10 million local tourists, even more than international tourists.
