The different ways for foreigners to invest in real estate in Bali

There are two ways to become a property owner in Bali, because as in the rest of Indonesia, foreigners cannot register land in their own name. However, the Indonesian government does offer alternatives:

  • Leasehold: a long-term lease of land directly with the owner. Lease terms are generally 20 to 25 years.
  • PT PMA: full ownership through the creation of a foreign-owned Indonesian company. However, this solution requires substantial capital and at least two shareholders.
